Gail P. Yamazaki

Gail Yamazaki has been creating successful public relations and marketing communications campaigns and programs for more than twenty years, primarily specializing in the global satellite and telecommunications industry. Yamazaki has extensive experience delivering a wide range of high impact programs that have pushed companies’ brands, visibility and executive teams into the industry spotlight.

Her background includes:

• Award-winning integrated branding and advertising campaigns around the world
• Comprehensive domestic and international trade show management
• Obtaining high-level speaking and interview opportunities for executive team members
• Developing and nurturing long-term relationships with key industry and business reporters that
pay off in media coverage
• Creating and producing compelling written and web-based material; she is a published author
• Measurably successful direct mail campaigns

Most recently, as Director of Marketing Communications for Telesat (previously Loral Skynet), Yamazaki led the company’s largest-ever global advertising campaign, covering markets in Europe, China, the Middle East, and Brazil. The campaign was designed to maintain existing customer bases while the company worked its way out of Chapter 11. It was so successful that the company’s sales doubled over the previous reporting year, and more than tripled media and analyst interview and speaking requests for the company’s Senior Executives.

In the same capacity at Telesat, Yamazaki was also responsible for producing over 20 high-impact trade shows per year globally. In this capacity, she saved the company over $50,000 per year in shipping and storage fees by effectively managing vendor and booth management strategies.

Prior to Loral Skynet, Yamazaki supported a number of clients in the satellite and telecommunications sector as a Senior Associate of Longbottom Communications, LLC. She also independently counseled teleport and mobile satellite-based phone service providers on strategic communications programs and campaigns.

Prior to Longbottom Communications, Yamazaki served in senior communications management positions with several different sectors of the telecommunications industry. She was Director of Branding and Communications for Verestar, a leading teleport and earth segment provider subsequently purchased by Intelsat. Before that, she was Communications Manager for ICO Global Communications, a satellite-based mobile telephone company. At ICO, Yamazaki developed and produced communications plans for the company’s North and South American markets.

Yamazaki cut her teeth in the satellite industry during her 15+ year’s tenure at INTELSAT. Over the course of a number of increasingly senior management positions, she managed creation and production of both corporate and product-marketing materials and events for the global satellite services leader, both before and after its privatization. Yamazaki began her career working on Capitol Hill where she gained first hand experience in delivering successful political messaging.

Yamazaki earned a B.A. in French Literature and a B.A. in Art History from the University of Delaware, Newark, Delaware, and a Premier et Deuxieme Degree from the French Language and Literature University of Grenoble, Grenoble, France. She is a candidate for an MA in Telecommunications Policy at George Washington University, Washington, D.C. She has lived in Europe, the Middle East and North America and speaks French fluently.
